Session overview
Many students use Google Scholar as a starting point to help find academic articles. This session will look at how you can improve your Google Scholar searches to find better results, get access to full text articles without being asked to pay, and assess whether articles are of a high quality suitable for academic research. We will discuss the benefits and pitfalls of using Google Scholar to find source information for your assignments.
Google Scholar is best accessed via the Databases A-Z list for seamless linking to Cranfield’s full text academic literature collections.
This session will be delivered via Teams, the link will be sent out nearer the day.
Who should participate
Anyone who uses Google Scholar and would like to know how to improve their results.
Intended learning outcomes (ILOs)
By the end of this demonstration, participants should be able to:
- Be familiar with a range of Google Scholar search commands and functions
- Know how to find full text articles from Google Scholar via the Library collections
- Understand how to assess Google Scholar results for quality
