Writing skills – Concise writing 3 Online
Online workshop. Academic English is no-one’s first language. It is a language that takes time to learn and develop. The aim of this suite of workshops is to revise key skills and topics related to academic writing that you will need to succeed.
There are 10 sessions in this suite of workshops.
- Applying academic language style
- Sentence structure and flow
- Paragraph structure and flow
- Structuring text logically
- Applying the three key tenses in academic writing
- Tips and strategies for revising your writing
- How to paraphrase, summarize, and synthesize sources
- How to integrate citations in-text
- How to critically engage with sources
- How to read journal articles.
The workshops are offered as face-to-face sessions or as online webinars. You do not need to attend both. Webinar joining instructions are normally uploaded directly to your Outlook calendar on acceptance of a place.

Intended learning outcomes (ILOs)
By the end of this session participants should be able to:
- Articulate what is meant by academic flow.
- Recognise and apply key organisational principles to create cohesive and flowing text.

Interactive workshop with PowerPoint presentation and small group exercises.
